Parinirvana Festival Day

10.30am to 4.30pm

The Parinirvana of the Buddha Shakyamuni marks the passing away of his body and his entering into what is called his final enlightenment or Nirvana.

On this festival day we celebrate the life of Shakyamuni and reflect on what it means too for us to come into being and then pass away.

We will come together through ritual, meditation, and reflection.

The Day’s Programme:

9.30am Prostration Practice for GFR Mitras and Order Members, led by Sthanashraddha.

10.30am Doors open

11am Introduction to the day and meditation led by Maitridarshin

11.40am Parinirvana Puja, led by Sthanashraddha.

1pm A festival lunch – please bring vegetarian / vegan food to share, so that we can feast together (labelled please)

2.15pm Talk with readings, led by Maitridarshin

3.15pm Meditation and mantra chanting

4.15pm Clear up and depart
