A meditation retreat for Mitras and Order Members associated with the Brighton Buddhist Centre.
Not Suitable for beginners.
Buddhist meditation is intended to cultivate two core qualities.
The first is tranquility, whereby we are blessed with a peaceful, positive state of mind. Mental busyness and disturbing emotions are reduced, enabling us to be more relaxed, present and fully alive.
The second is insight: the capacity to see the mind and the world with greater clarity and understanding. We learn to look more closely in our direct experience and to apply a dharma perspective to what we discover. We begin to see ourselves and the world as they actually are, beyond the obscurations of our own preferences and unexamined beliefs.
We are all capable of some degree of calm and clear-seeing, however the demands of daily life often make these qualities harder to access. The Buddha taught that if we want to cultivate these qualities, we should seek out conditions which support their development. We are fortunate to have our beautiful local retreat centre, Rivendell, to provide just such supportive conditions.
There will be opportunities for meditation and exploration of our practice through inquiry and discussion. We’ll have a talk and rituals connected with the theme. Much of the weekend will be in silence. Practising together in this way supports a contemplative approach to sangha building, as we tune in more deeply to ourselves and one another.
We warmly invite you to join us.
The retreat will be led by Maitridarshin and Akasati.

We will contact you nearer the start of the retreat to confirm arrival and departure times, things to bring / not to bring, etc, but in the meantime please do contact the Organiser, Shuddhadhara if you need any more help or information.
