Introductory course: Meditation & Buddhism – The Worldly Winds

21 February 2026, 10:15 am – 4:30 pm

This course is now full, but please do join the waiting list and we will contact you if a place becomes available. We will also contact you next time we run this course in future.

This course runs on three Saturdays 21st February, 7th March and 21st March 2026 from 10.15am to 4.30pm

This course will introduce you to two core meditation practices: the Mindfulness of Breathing, and the cultivation of Loving Kindness. We will also lead short meditations to help with stressful situations, and include support for sitting comfortably to meditate.

We will be looking at the Buddha’s teachings on the “Worldly Winds” – how we are tossed around in our lives by four pairs of opposites:

Pleasure and Pain
Gain and Loss
Praise and Blame

Fame and Disgrace

We can’t avoid these ups and downs in life or make the world exactly how we want it to be, but we can develop a broader perspective, allowing us to experience more steadiness, consistency and robustness in our moods, emotions and thoughts, and more kindness and equanimity in our lives.

We will offer practical methods for dealing with the Worldly Winds in our lives.

Led by Maitrimala and Suryadaya
