Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (Ca) is a specialist mindfulness intervention that has been designed to help participants who have had or are living with an experience of cancer. The course consists of 8 weekly sessions, with a ‘follow up’ session arranged during the course. Each potential participant will have a one to one meeting before the start to establish whether this course is right for you at this particular time.
Mindfulness Course in Brighton with Maitridarshin
Maitridarshin, (Ronnie Gower), has had a personal mindfulness meditation practice for some 30 years. During the last 15 years he has led many meditation courses and residential retreats.
He is a practicing Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist, having trained in Psychological Therapy for complex mental health difficulties, (CBT), at Sussex University. He is a member of the British Association of Behavioral and Cognitive Psychotherapists.
His interest in the clinical applications of mindfulness led him to study for a Masters Degree in, MBCT at Oxford University where his tutor was Professor Mark Williams.
His personal practice and clinical background together with his academic studies in Buddhist Psychology at London University has given him a broad perspective of both traditional and secular mindfulness practices.
He has undertaken specialist training in MBCT for cancer at Bangor University were he was trained by Trish Bartley.
Maitridarshin is currently researching the effects of Mindfulness on anxiety and depression symptoms in individuals with a history of cancer. He receives regular supervision for his CBT, MBCT and MBCT for cancer practice.
He works in the NHS and Macmillan’s Cancer Charity in Brighton.
