Carers Day Retreats

This is an initiative of the Brighton Buddhist Centre funded by Brighton & Hove Council Council for carers from the City.
The days run from 10.00 to 17.00 and carers are welcome to attend any two day retreats in a year.

The aims of the Carers Days include -

• to provide a place to unwind and recharge your batteries,
• to learn helpful skills to deal with stress and help maintain calm,
• to meet other carers and have a space to talk.

There will be time to talk to other carers if you wish, and there are several short sessions looking at effective techniques to help create more calm in our life, especially when things get tough. All sessions are invitational, nothing is compulsory! Learning to meditate can help you manage difficult and stressful times in your life as a carer. The day includes a delicious buffet lunch.

These day retreats are funded by Brighton & Hove Council and are free to carers. You do need to have completed an assessment with B&H Social Care Access Point for 2011 - you can do this over the phone on 01273 295555 and it should only take 15 minutes or so. They will provide you with a carers card which entitles you to attend two days and other supportive services on offer.

There is a page on the Carers section of the council website ‘Relaxation skills for carers’ with information about the day break, drop-in and MBCT course. Here is a link to the page which gives information on the eligibility for the breaks/courses and contact details for access point.

To book for one of the Carers Days please inform the Social Care Access Point staff which day you would like to attend. Places are limited to 15 per day so please book in good time.

We look forward to seeing you at one of our days!
