(With the Going for Refuge and Prostration Practice from 9.30am for Order Members and GfR Mitras)
Sangha Day is a festival day with a precious opportunity for Mitras to reaffirm their commitment in the context of a puja.
We will be starting the day at 10.30am with puja including a Mitra Ceremony, Mitra reaffirmations and meditation in the morning.
This is our day to gather together in Sangha and experience friendship and being part of this community.
In the afternoon we will be treated to a talk from our Chair, Maitridarshin.
2025 is the 100th anniversary of our founder Sangharakshita’s birth. Let’s make this Sangha Day festival a real celebration of our place in the international Triratna community.
We express our commitment to the health of the Sangha with ritual, devotion, Dharma and the sharing of food. Bringing offerings for the puja, food for the table and donations are an expression and display of dana in action – open handed generosity, which holds a special place for each one of us and is at the heart of our community.
All welcome, no need to book. By donation.

Our Mitra-to-be…

Hi! My name’s Charly. I’m 27 and grew up in Essex, moving to Brighton about 7 years ago to study. I came to the centre for the first time about a year and a half ago. At first I came to the young sangha Tuesday evenings, where I felt welcomed and quickly knew that I needed to prioritise this in my life.
From there, I became more and more involved in the young Sangha and the centre, helping out and coming to various courses; like the Radical Dharma course, and recently the Vision and Transformation course, as well as attending retreats, festival days and going on walks with other sangha members. That being said, largely around the centre my focus and time has been around the young sangha; Helping with the Tuesday evenings and the end of month retreat weekends, whilst developing strong friendships and learning about Buddhism.
I have always been interested in and felt drawn by spiritual teachers and philosophy, and had a keen but sporadic interest in meditation when I was younger, which is what first brought me to the centre.
Outside of the centre, I live on my own in a cozy bedsit on the outskirts of the city centre. I also help run a local music centre and teach a small amount of piano to kids from my work. This is a huge passion of mine, and I’m very grateful that I get to call it my work. I also like being in nature, reading, and listening to music.
